Our cinnamon sticks are of the Cassia type, known for its strong flavor and aroma compared to Ceylon cinnamon. Cassia cinnamon is therefore rightly popular in cooking worldwide, as it contributes a deep, spicy taste.

Since our product is whole cinnamon sticks, they can be used whole or ground into powder. It essentially depends on what you want to use the cinnamon sticks for, as they can be used as an ingredient in both sweet and savory dishes, as well as drinks:

  • Desserts and baking: Cinnamon is delicious in many baked goods, such as cinnamon rolls and Christmas cookies, or it can be used in ice cream. For cakes, cookies, or spicy breads, the cinnamon sticks should first be ground into powder to integrate best into the dough, and in most desserts, it also makes sense to grind the sticks first.
  • Drinks: Use the cinnamon sticks whole in hot drinks like chai latte, mulled wine, or when you want extra aroma in coffee and tea. For mulled wine, the sticks can be boiled whole and just removed when the flavor is released.
  • Stews and sauces: Use whole cinnamon sticks in simmering dishes, curry dishes, or sauces. They add a subtle depth to the dish and can easily be removed after cooking. For example, cinnamon sticks are ideal to use in chili con/sin carne and can be boiled whole during the cooking time.
  • Marinades and pickling: Whole cinnamon sticks work well in marinades or pickling, where they gradually release their flavor during cooking.

Cassia cinnamon contains the substance coumarin, so intake should be limited.

 

Cinnamon sticks are suitable for desserts as whole sticks and for baking if ground into cinnamon powder. They can also be used in savory dishes, such as chili con carne.
